CBD FAQ

What is CBD oil?

CBD oil is a natural oil that is extracted from the flowers and leaves of the cannabis plant. It is used by people all over the world for a variety of purposes.

What are cannabinoids?

Cannabinoids are active compounds produced by all cannabis plants. They account for most of the benefits of cannabis. Cannabinoids found in plants are technically called phytocannabinoids, while cannabinoids produced by the human body are called endocannabinoids. Cannabinoids interact with the body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS), which promotes homeostasis.

How does CBD work?

CBD’s effects are a result of its interaction with the endocannabinoid system. CBD impacts the ECS indirectly, most often through activation of outside receptors and interaction with enzymes.

What is CBD used for?

Many people use CBD to support the body’s natural systems. Cannabinoids are an integral part of the human body’s ability to regulate and balance a wide variety of physiological systems. CBD is also used by some for specific purposes such as supporting a good night’s rest or maintaining well-functioning joints.

Are there traces of THC in CBD oil?

Raw hemp extract may contain small traces of THC.

What does broad spectrum mean?

The term broad spectrum refers to CBD oil products that contain a combination of cannabinoids, terpenes and other beneficial compounds found in hemp. While many CBD oil products are made using CBD isolate, SootheMeCBD broad spectrum oils maintain concentrations of the beneficial compounds that are found in the original hemp plant. Our broad-spectrum CBD oil products contain 0.0% THC, as shown in our lab reports.

What does full spectrum mean?

Full-spectrum CBD oil is very similar to broad-spectrum CBD — the exception is that full-spectrum oil usually retains the trace amounts of THC present in the hemp plant. Legally, though, this amount of THC must always be less than 0.3%.

Is broad-spectrum cbd oil psychoactive?

SootheMeCBD CBD products are made with broad-spectrum oils which have had traces of THC removed. Our products are extremely unlikely to cause a high. We also now offer a line of full-spectrum products.

Will I feel any effects from using CBD products?

Some of the effects reported by CBD oil users include improved mood, restful sleep, increased attention and focus and others. However, organic compounds such as CBD can produce different effects in different people. Your results may vary.

Can I overdose on CBD?

There is no record of anyone ever overdosing on CBD. CBD is completely non-toxic. Also, all of SootheMeCBD lab reports show that our products have 0.0% THC.

What are the benefits of taking broad-spectrum CBD products?

The benefits of broad-spectrum products are usually greater than the benefits provided by others, such as those containing just CBD isolate. This is due to what’s known as the entourage effect. The entourage effect occurs when compounds in the hemp plant, including cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids, work together to produce even greater effects than just CBD alone. All SootheMeCBD products contain broad-spectrum CBD oil. However, organic compounds such as CBD can produce different effects in different people. Your results may vary.

What are terpenes?

Terpenes are a class of volatile hydrocarbon compounds produced in the flower clusters of the cannabis plant. Terpenes are what give cannabis its distinct aromas and have been utilized by humans for millennia in aromatherapy. Terpenes are recognized as safe for human consumption by the Food and Drug Association and are used in a wide variety of food and cosmetic products.

Is it possible to take too much CBD?

CBD is non-toxic. We have never heard of anyone overdosing on CBD. However, extremely large servings of CBD may cause drowsiness.

How often can I take CBD?

CBD can be taken multiple times each day, or at particular times of day, depending on the reason it is being used.

Should I take CBD with food?

Our edible products are best taken with food, although there are usually no issues when taken on an empty stomach. Taking the products with food may help to minimize any potential side effects.

Are there any negative side effects?

CBD is not known to have any negative side effects. However, large servings of CBD may cause drowsiness. If your intention is to remain alert, this may be considered an unwanted side effect and therefore large servings should be avoided.

Will CBD oil show up on a drug test?

Under normal circumstances, our broad-spectrum products are not expected to produce a positive result for THC consumption through testing conducted using industry-standard sophisticated testing methods. SootheMeCBD cannot, and does not represent or warrant as to the results that any individual may experience, and advises you to consider the risks of incorrect detection prior to use of this product.

Will CBD help me if I'm healthy?

Because of its ability to help support the body’s effort to maintain homeostasis, CBD is often used by those who don’t have any specific concerns.

What is the endocannabinoid system?

The human endocannabinoid system, or ECS, is a system of neurotransmitters and cell membrane receptors. Neurotransmitters such as endocannabinoids are produced by the central nervous system and interact with cannabinoid receptors on cell membranes to adjust physiological processes at a cellular level.

Does your product contain THC?

No. All broad-spectrum SootheMeCBD products show 0.0% THC on their lab reports, while our full-spectrum products show less than 0.3% THC. We use patented technology to remove residual THC found in our hemp extract.

Can I see your lab reports?

How much CBD is in your products?

SootheMeCBD offers some of the most potent CBD products available. However, the amount of CBD in SootheMeCBD products varies from product to product. Please refer to the product label for exact concentrations of CBD in each product.

What kind of testing/analysis is performed on your products?

All SootheMeCBD products go through rigorous testing by third-party labs to assure purity and accurate concentrations of cannabinoids. This includes testing to be sure that our broad-spectrum products contain 0.0% THC and any potential contaminants.

Do you test for potency, pesticide, heavy metals, and yeast/mold?

Yes. All SootheMeCBD products go through a rigorous series of tests by third-party labs to ensure purity and accurate concentrations of cannabinoids. This includes testing to be sure that our products have no potential contaminants.

Will I need a marijuana card or doctor’s prescription to use CBD products?

No. CBD is not a drug. You will not be required to produce a medical marijuana card in order to purchase CBD online. However, some states have laws allowing doctors to recommend CBD to patients for particular conditions.

How should I store CBD products? Do I need to refrigerate them?

We highly recommend either refrigerating CBD products or storing them in a cool place. Always keep CBD products in airtight containers and store them away from direct sunlight and heat, which can degrade certain compounds in CBD oil.

Does CBD interact with other medications?

Much more research needs to be done in this area. If you are taking prescription medications, consult with a qualified medical professional.

How long will it take to receive benefits from taking CBD oil?

In some cases, such as when using a vaporizer or tincture, users often report almost immediate results. However, most of the effects of CBD are subtle and take some time to be detectable — usually half an hour or more. Personal results will vary.

I have a gluten allergy. Can I use your products?

Yes. All SootheMeCBD products are gluten free.

How do I choose a product that is right for me?

The ideal method for taking CBD depends on the reason for which it’s being taken as well as your preference for its format. If using CBD oil for general wellness, tinctures or capsules are recommended. However, gummies might be preferred for their flavor or vapes for their ease of use — it might take a couple of tries to find the perfect product for you.

What is the entourage effect?

Broad and full spectrum CBD oil, such as that used in SoothemeCBD products, contains a variety of cannabinoids and terpenes as well as other beneficial compounds. Each of the compounds has particular effects on the human body. Because terpenes can affect how the body responds to cannabinoids, the combined effect is often greater than the sum of the individual effects. The overall effect produced is known as the entourage effect. Non-broad or full spectrum products do not have the benefit of the entourage effect and are therefore not recommended.

What is the ideal serving size?

The ideal serving size of CBD for each person depends on a wide range of variables. It also depends on the product. Servings of 5 to 50 milligrams per day are commonly reported for health maintenance and minor issues.

Will CBD get me high?

No. Unlike marijuana and THC, CBD is non-psychotropic and is extremely unlikely to cause a high.

Does your CBD have a shelf life?

CBD itself does not have an expiration date. However, CBD oil products can degrade and should be used within a certain period of time. They should be stored in airtight containers either in the refrigerator or in a cool place away from direct sunlight. Please refer to the product expiration dates for more information.
